Idaho Fall Tigers Cross-Country Team—Training at MERA 9/26/19.
The Idaho Falls Tigers favorite cross-country running trail system is MERA! For the second year in a row, the Idaho Tigers stopped at MERA on their way to the NIKE Northwest Invitational XC Meet in Portland, Oregon, (meet was on Saturday 9/28/19) to take a break from the bus ride and to get a training run in. They ran Red Apple Trail and Parent Trap Trail…
Special Thanks to Kristi Moore, Senior Class Advisor, and La Grande High School Seniors for Working on the Parent Trap Trail, and Other Trails located at the Mt Emily Recreation Area—MERA! on 10/16/19
The work completed by the La Grande High School Seniors on the Parent Trap Trail was greatly appreciated and much needed! (note: other groups of La Grande High School Seniors worked concurrently on MERA’s
Slammer Trail, Upper Hotshot Trail, and sign post placement on various trails—thanks to all of you Seniors!). The section of the Parent Trap Trail that the La Grande High School Seniors worked on was in need of buffing out, raking, and rock removal. But the creative minds of these students also pushed them further—they also reconstructed two jumps and constructed one new one! Starting and ending at the Owsley Canyon Trailhead the Parent Trap Trail, which is a 2 mile green rated loop, is fast becoming one of MERA’s most popular trails for those with beginning to advanced mountain bike and BMX bike riding skills as well as for those first- timers who want to get a feel for what mountain biking is all about. Parent Trap Trail is also very popular with trail runners and walkers. Thank you Kristi Moore and the La Grande High School Seniors!
