La Grande, Oregon. The fourteenth annual benefit auction of the Grande Ronde Symphony Association will be celebrated with a ‘Taste of Excellence’ event on Saturday, September 28, 2019, from 6:00 – 9:00pm at the Presbyterian Friendship Center, 1204 Spring Street, in La Grande. The event will include elegant Oregon hors d’oeuveres and locally sourced beer, wine, and chocolates. In addition to many excellent auction items, patrons will be treated to the sounds of the symphony’s own Music Director, Zachary Banks on the cello, and amazing violinist Viet Block.
The evening’s culinary experience will be a departure from previous years. Evening tastes include hors d’oeuveres by Urban Vine, delicious desserts, custom chocolates from Joseph’s renowned Arrowhead Chocolates. All have been hand-selected to pair with wines by Echo Ridge Cellars of Echo, Oregon, and award winning brews by Barley Browns of Baker City.
GRSA President Alice Trindle commented, “We are excited to offer an evening for local patrons to not only come out to support the arts, but to enjoy our Oregon bounty through tasty bites, local libations, and who can resist…local chocolate!” She continued, “Ticket prices have been reduced to make it easy to plan a ‘date night’ for an evening out, while supporting your local symphony.”
The silent auction will begin at 6:00pm and will continue until 6:50pm. Attendees can bid often and bid high while sampling delicious Oregon bounty appetizers. The oral auction, led by auctioneer Heidi Hill, will start at 7:00 pm. “We have many wonderful items and experiences donated by attractions and individuals, ranging from art work, to dinner with the Director, to a weekend golfing, bike riding, and fishing at Silvies Valley Ranch valued at over $1,000,” commented Auction Co-Chair Janice Cowan.
Ms. Trindle continued, “The Grande Ronde Symphony Association is so appreciative of the strong support over the past fourteen years by the greater northeast Oregon community for this event. As the symphony continues into our 72nd year, we look forward to administering the many programs ranging from the Grande Ronde Symphony Orchestra and Student Symphony, to Fiddle Clubs and our Chamber Concert series.” She concluded, “We hope to see the same level of support for this year’s event so that we can continue to keep this long standing orchestra and its many programs sustainable!”
